Fibre Artist Diaries: #1

Currently I’m on a mission to improve my circular machine knitting skills, mainly to make more Sentro x crochet pieces for the summer. šŸ’•šŸŒž

Unlike crochet, it’s hard to figure out sizing for panels you’ll need on the Sentro as you go along with the project. I feel like measuring items on the machine isn’t that helpful (or I’m doing it wrong, lol).

So I’ve been practicing making top panels with a different number of pins to see what my ideal fit is (for a UK Large).

For this post, I’m looking at my 35-pin attempt.

The pink is pretty; however the panels were too small T.T

In hindsight I probably should have blocked them but considering I used DK yarn it would have made them almost see through….

Instead, I decided to create a 2.5 inch wide crochet panel along the sides of each Sentro panel to make the top fit properly. I got a bit overexcited and decide to create a vine tapestry pattern for this, to add a bit of pizzazz. šŸ’–

Was it cute? Hell yes!

Did the thick crochet panel cause the top to become boxy/bulky? Unfortunately also yes.

I’m looking to style this out, or transform it into a tote bag. But we’ll see once I have time.

Further posts for each of my next Sentro experiments!
